The Ultimate Spiderman was a new series from Spider-man which ran from 2000- 2009.
The story begins in the 1940s and continues on while including new character and new villains along the way. The comic series saw character changes and decade changes consistently as though the comic were moving in time. The Amazing Spiderman began after 15 comics were released based on Spider-man and Marvel comic books realized that the 15 grossed more than almost any other comic book they published. Writer Dan Slott was behind bimonthly issues of the comic till 2003, since then comics have periodically been released. The Amazing Spiderman is the title of the comics from 1963, and there are some still in production today. Spiderman utilizes his powers of agility, web creating and intelligence to outwit the villains in his comics. There are many evil characters that Spiderman encounters along the way such as the Green Goblin, the Sandman, and Doctor Octopus. The storyline is based around Peter Parker whose uncle is murdered for no reason and he seeks to find the killer by fighting all crime, all while trying to win the heart of Mary Jane Watson. The character of Spiderman was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1963 and based the comic on the life of Peter Parker, a geek by day and a superhero with the abilities of a spider by night.

Ultimate Spider-Man was a huge hit for Marvel and the comic ran for 133 issues, before it was cancelled as part of plans to bring the Ultimate Universe to a close. The comic followed the early adventures of Peter Parker and saw the wall-crawler battle the likes of Venom, Carnage, and the Sinister Six, as well as other villains. This new universe was known as the Ultimate Marvel Universe, and one of the comics it gave birth to was Ultimate Spider-Man. The plan was to take heroes such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four, place them in a new universe (separate to existing Marvel continuity), and restart their stories from the very beginning. In 2000, and with years of continuity under its belt, Marvel Comics made the decision to reimagine some of its most popular characters.
